I can't stand by!

I just had to reinstall the operating system and everything is working fine
again, but when I go to the shut down menu the stand by option is
unavailable. I know this is a minor problem really but its annoying me and I
just wondered if anyone has any idea what is wrong.

I'm running windows XP professional edition.

Many thanks,

Evelyn

Hi Evelyn,

You haven't installed full driver sets for some of your hardware, you are
probably using Windows default drivers for video, sound, networking, and
possibly motherboard components. In order for standby to work, it must be
supported by the drivers for the system hardware. Default drivers (those
that just make for basic functionality of a component) often do not support
it, you need to install drivers from the device manufacturer for the full
set. If your manufacturer supplied a driver disk for the system or the
motherboard, use it. Then check for other needed driver updates (and do not
use Windows Update for this).
