Hi, Iam using xp pro sp3. I click Stand By and monitor is shutting down but
my harddrive or whatever is still running inside. I remember when I used to
put it on sleep mode it would completely be quite. Nothing was running. I
used spyware, antivirus .... nothing worked. How can I fix this problem?
Thanks in advance.

I forgot to tell, I already checked those settings. I have ati 9550 video
card. Do you think that's the problem?
Why can't microsoft fix this odd problem?

If you are not having any other display related problems, I don't think the
video card would be related.

I would suspect it could be caused by low resources or memory fragmentation.
Check the C:\hiberfil.sys file size. Tool\Folder Options\View\click the
button on "Show hidden files and folders", and uncheck the box in "Hide
protected operating system files" the file should be 260,728KB

The Power Scheme you are using may be corrupted, so try diffent schemes in
Power Options, also disable hibernation completely and restart the system at
least two times before you enable it again.

Also check this it may have the solution and answer the link for the
Microsoft fix.
PC running Windows XP won't go into hibernation
