Stand By button Dimmed

I just installed Windows XP on a Dell Optiplex GX1. The stand By button at
the shut down menu is dimmed. How can I "activate" the stand by option ?

Usually it has nothing to do with activating,the problem exist in needed
updates to video card drivers and or software,update,the greyed out stand
by will go away.
