I can't See my Hidden files in anyway - A Serious Problem.

I'm unable to see my hidden files. the options from folder option doesn't
work. even i tried the option at Group policy editor and no result. Configs:
Genuine XP SP2 with latest updates, AVG antivirus. I'm working in
troubleshooting and tried any possible way. This problem is recent and new to
me.

From what I`ve seen and read AVG av seems to be giving some trouble
lately . Used to use it , some years ago , now use free Avast .
