Changed a file Attribute to Hidden

J

Jamal

I changed a file Attribute in "My Documents" to "Hidden". I changed the
option to "Show hidden files and folders" in the "Folders Options" but did
not work! I even tried to search it from the DOS but the file is still
Hidden.
I have MS XP Home Edition, V 2002, SP3.
Please help!
Many thanks.

I do not at the moment have a direct answer to your questions. Two
points to be made,

Use the Reply to not New message option so all your posts about your
problem go to the same conversation (thread).

Try Start, All Programs, Accessories, Accessories, Windows Explorer.
Does that work?

Hope this helps.

Use ATTRIB at the Command Prompt:

C:\>attrib -h "C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\My Documents\file.ext"

the hidden option actually
works to keep other users
(who use the same computer
but with different logins/user
accounts) from seeing the
hidden files.

what you can use is a program
called "my private folder", which
microsoft made but no longer
distributes it.

however, there are some websites
that have stored the download and
makes it available for anyone.

the above is one concept whereas
you can store files in the one folder
and the lock it up.

the other freeware I utilize is called
free folder hide.

this program can hide folders
across the board, which is
similar to the hidden feature
you are currently trying to use
in windows.
