Can't see hidden files

D

Donny

On my Windows XP computer I can't see any hidden files.
I've tried to see them again by clicking Tools -> Folder Options -> View ->
Show Hidden Files in a regular file explorer window.
But when I click Apply or OK, they just revert back to "Do Not Show Hidden
Files"!

Help please!

Try this:
1. Click “Start†-> “Run…†(or press Windows key + R)
2. Type “regedit†and click “Okâ€.
3. Find the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL
4. Look at the “CheckedValue†key… This should be a DWORD key. If it isn’t,
delete the key.
5. Create a new key called “CheckedValue†as a DWORD (hexadecimal) with a
value of 1.
6. The “Show hidden files & folders†check box should now work normally.

It's Apply + OK not Apply or OK. Also restart the computer.

Select Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View, Advanced Settings and
verify that the box before "Show hidden files and folders" is checked
and "Hide protected operating system files " is unchecked. You may need
to scroll down to see the second item. You should also make certain that
the box before "Hide extensions for known file types" is not checked.

Hope this helps.
