I can't install Windows XP on my new computer((ASUS A8S-X , AMD Athlon 64, HD
250GB SATA). Unfortunately, my XP install never gets that far. It says it's
detecting my system hardware for about a second, then goes blank. I can add ,
that SuSE linux was successfully installed on this machine. i tried Win 2003,
It works, but XP :(

I need your help, thanks.

Hi

- Try removing non-essential hardware prior to the installation.
- Try turning OFF Plug and Play mode (PnP) in the bios.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards

Malte

Hi,
1)I turned OFF Plug and Play mode (PnP) in the bios.
2)I changed the videocard to a very simple one
3)I turned OFF the soundcard in the BIOS
4) the BIOS says - Jumper Free Configuration
- Onboard PCI S-ATA Controller - Native (options :
disable, native, RAID)

Nothing happened, same black screen :(

Did you press F6 right after the CD booted, so you can load the SATA
driver that came with the motherboard - usually on a floppy?

HJS

It never asks me to press F6 . It happens before, just after pressing any key
for booting from CD, the screen is black and nothing more.

Could it simply be a bad WinXP CD or CD/DVD-ROM drive?

I bought my XP for this computer one week ago, I don't think it's bad. CD/DVD
is OK, I installed Linux. :(
