i can send but not receive emails in outlook

when i click send/ receive, the status bar shows progress and says completed
for both sending and receiving, only my email does not show up in my inbox.
the emails are on my server, so i know i have messages. but i cannot get
them through outlook. i have my pop3 set up.

Version of Outlook?
Are you using a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook?
If so disable this integration and try again.
