I can see my folder, but I can not see word's documents saved in i

I recently upgrade my PC from window 98 to window XP home edition, but my
word and every other files saved in folders on my PC vanished. I can open the
folders, but I can not retrieve my files or see them.

Didn't do a backup before you upgraded, did you? Also, I'll bet you didn't
flatten your system and then start from scratch either.
