I can not use the scanner when I log as user

Hello:

I install an old scanner on a Windows XP machine, the scanner is AGFA e20, I
did install that scanner as an administrator and it worked just fine, BUT,
when I log on as "user" , I can see the scanner short cut on the desktop, and
when I click on it, will not open or do anything, when I right click and
select "Run as", a small window opens with a selection to run it as an
administrator.

I need other users to use this scanner on that machine, not only an
administrator.
Oh, by the way, I tried to re-install the scanner software as a user and a
power user, but an error comes out : that I have to disable the "uninstall
shield".

Thank you very much for the help.

The old scanner's software is not written well and doesn't understand an
operating system with permissions. Check on the scanner mftr.'s site
for an updated driver for XP or contact their tech support to see what
files, folders, and registry entries need to have their permissions
altered. Or get a new scanner that has been designed to work with XP.

Quickest way to Windows XP Hell and OS dysfunction and destruction is
'trying' to run old hardware and/or software. You gonna put old worn out
tires on your brand-new car? Man, you people never cease to make my jaw
drop, no wonder you are here wailing and gnashing your teeth.

And just how old do you think XP is, 1Yr, 2Yrs, 3Yrs, 4 or More, Will be an
old tire when Vista is released.
For that matter a P4 processor isn't all that new either!
So gnash and ferminate!
