I can not share files between Desktop and Laptop

S

ss

Both Desktop1 and Laptop running windows xp pro. I can share files between
the Desktop1 and another desktop (Desktop2) which runs windows xp home.
I can ping Desktop1 from the Laptop.
I cannot ping the Laptop from the Desktop (neither 1 nor 2).

I have been through this checklist
(http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/troubleshoot/specificbroblems.h
tm), with no luck.

I don't know what else to check.

I have no firewalls enabled on this network.
I have simple file sharing enabled on all.
File and printer sharing is installed on all.
TCP/IP is the only protocol used.

Can someone please help me here?

What about pinging Desktop2 from Laptop?

Do you have any firewalls installed but not enabled?

How is everything connected? Is it all wired? Or is there wireless somewhere?
Make and model of router?

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
