Can't connect from Vista to XP (File Sharing)

Stats:

Vista Machine: Desktop1
XP Machine: Desktop2

Workgroup: WORKGROUP

Problem:
I'm trying to connect from my laptop which has Vista Ultimate to my machine
that has Windows XP MCE and connect to the Private share (c$) to pull files
off of the desktop, but I get errors such as

Command Line Error
"C:\>net use \\192.168.1.2
System error 1385 has occurred.

Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at
this computer."

Trying to connect to \\DESKTOP2 from Vista machine
"
\\DESKTOP2 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the Admin of this erver to find out if you have
access permissions.

Logon Failure: the user has not granted the requested logon type at this
computer.
"

I installed that LLTD or whatever it was mentioned in another post, and I
now can see the XP machine in the discovery program on Vista, but cannot
click on it, connect, or see any of the shares.

Ping DESKTOP2
see's it with no problems

so it is not a connection problem between the two machines, it is related to
something else.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've tried everything mentioned on
the forums here.

Thanks.

By default, Vista administrative shares e.g. C$, D$) are not shared by default for security reasons. You should create your own shares to share your drives from the root of the drive or use Public folder sharing....

I'm not denying that things have changed, thats not the problem, sharing is
easy, the problem is communicating back and forth from my Vista Box to my XP
Box.

XP see's Vista
Vista doesn't see XP.

Installed that LLDP or whatever patch I read on another post, and still
nothing. I can ping the IP I can ping the computer name. but it just doesn't
show in the mapping box in vista nor can I connect to any of its shares. XP
To Vista see's everything, and can connect to its shares.
