i can not get windows mail to work right

I got windows vista basic i am trying to add my hotmail addy and my cable
connection addy to the windos mail so i can use it neither will add and i
even went to hotmail changed to the windows hotmail beta and now i can not
even look at my mail through hotmail the reg way
