I can't get Windows Mail set up/configured. Please help!!

I recently had to convert Outlook to Windows Mail. Windows Mail won't let me
set up my account because when the setup wizard asks for my name and email
address, it says that I can't use my hotmail email address because Windows
Mail doesn't support the HTTP servers used by hotmail and other web based
servers. My hotmail email is the only email account I have and have had for
many years. As it is, I can't send or received emails with Windows Mail. What
can I do to fix this? Since my ISP is Roadrunner, does this mean that I can
never get Windows Mail to work?

I'm having the same issue. My internet provider tried to set up my internet
email to Windows and didn't set up the outgoing, only set up the incoming. So
when I try to Send or reply to email I always get the "task error" pop-up.
I'm asking the same question can you convert other emails to your Vista
Windows email?

Sure, any email account will work in Windows Mail except for
webmail-only accounts.
If you need more help, tell us who your provider is.

AT&T has three major divisions: former SBC, former Bellsouth,
and AT&T Worldnet. Those divisions use different email settings, so you
have to be careful as to which AT&T help page you follow.
Assuming you are in the former SBC territory, follow these instructions:

Hi Gary
Wonder if you can help me, as you seem to know your stuff.

I have Windows Vista, and tried using Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail and Thunderbird.

I have a private email address from my own domain, bought through Supanames. And have sky broadband.

I can receive emails but not send. Any ideas that may help me at all?

This all worked fine until I recently had to change both laptop and also service provider. Kind of a double wammy!
