The message seems to get 'stuck' in the outbox even though the program
continues to try and send it. Most times it doesnt send but sometimes it
sends over and over and I cant delete it from the outbox. Any suggestions?

thanks for your reply but I have already disabled the virus scanner and as
I'm able to send attachments using webmail I dont think it can be an ISP
restriction.

Verify your message isn't bigger than allowed by your ISP. Additionally, if
you have a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook disable this
integration.

Disabling the virus scanner isn't the same as disabling its integration with
Outlook.

That would depend on your virus scan solution. Check the documentation of
your virus scan solution for exact instructions. Usually they have their own
control panel in which you can enable/disable this or uninstall the
component through the setup.
