hyperlinks

I am running under XP Professional and IE 6.
On certain (not all) web sites, when I click on a hyperlink nothing happens.
I do see on the bottom of the screen a javascript: instruction.
If I right click and open on a new window, I get the message "the page
cannot be displayed"
I've tried most of the advises found on the web and changed and rechecked
the popup blockers and internet and java options, but nothing seems to fix
the problem.
If I recall correctly - this is only a hunch - the whole thing started after
I deleted IE 7.

1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

Open a run command and type in:
regsvr32 urlmon.dll click [OK]
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]
ipconfig /renew click [OK]
netsh winsock reset click [OK]
Note the space between regsvr32_dll in all cases ( or you can copy and
paste the commands in the run.
Reboot your machine, does the behaviour occur again?.
HTH.
Let us know.
