Hyperlinks wont work from outlook

If I click on a hyperlink from outlook, then I get an error message which
says that outlook was not correctly installed, and when I click OK to clear
the message, about 40 internet explorer windows open up.

I have had this problem since I have had the pc with XP installed by the
manufacturer since new. I have gone into control panel and tried removing
and re-installing outlook express but the problem remains.

I'm not sure if it is a problem with the security settings that may be able
to be fixed, or some other problem??

Any help or advice would also be appreciated.
