Hyper threading Technology

Hi can someone please explain what Hyper Threading Technology is and
how it works?

Why is it so good?

I have a new Toshibs P20 with this technology and in device manager it
shows two processors I'm sure this has only one although I haven't
been able to get the hardware specs for this model yet.
