The definitive answer is yes ... and no.

Win2K will show an HT processor as being 2 processors. WinXP will show it as
1 processor. Win2K doesn't really take full advantage of HT, but it does
"support" HT.

The answer is, IF it works in your situation, fine. If it doesn't work,
the official position is that Win2K is not designed for HT, only dual
processors so the answer is to disable HT or install an Operating system
that supports HT(Win XP)

Win2k can't distinguish a HT CPU from two real CPUs.
WinXP specifically knows about HT, and will use optimisation not available yet in win2k.
Because of this XP runs on HT machine much better than win2k.

Windows 2000 supports HyperThreading CPUs in as much as they appear as
two separate processors. However, it merely attempts to use them as
two physically separate CPUs, whereas Windows XP has full support for
HT and has the necessary optimisations to make the best use of the
technology.
