HP ZT1000 Cannot find the hard drive

I have an HP zt1000 laptop running windows XP. It has been running fine and all of a sudden it cannot find the hard drive to load windows. Even the bios says there is no hard drive connected. If I leave the laptop alone for a couple of weeks or so it might start and then again not. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? If so please let me know. HP want's a mint to help me solve this problem.

Have you gone in and checked the connections to your HardDrive, then the connections from the harddrive to the Motherboard?

Yes I have, everything is connected properly. Like I said sometimes it works, and other times it loses the hard drive.
