HP software

When I shut down my computer there is a dialog box that tells me that 'hpcmpmgr' is shutting down. It then tells me that the program is not responding. This has only started happening recently and was not a problem when I first installed the software. The software is in a folder 'C/Program Files/HP/coretech' and was installed for a HP photosmart 7660 printer which is connected to the computer through a USB hub. The problem occurs whether the printer is connected or not. My operating system is Windows XP running on a Toshiba 2450 laptop. Any ideas?
