HP scanner function buttons non-operational after resume from standby

I have a HP scanjet 5470c that has function buttons to automatically
perform a scan and print (copy function) and several other functions.

After resuming from either standby or hibernate, these function
buttons do not work. The scanner indicates that it is "processing"
but there is no result. However I can successfully scan and perform
all of the operations directly from my scanner software. If I reboot
or restart my system, the scanner function buttons work fine until I
enter and resume from standby.

HP tech help provided a patch for this problem but it was not
successful. HP concluded that the USB port was either reset or not
initialized upon resuming from standby. They suggested that I try to
get an updated USB driver.

According to MS, there doesn't appear to be an updated driver.
However they have hotfix for a problem with USB keyboard function keys
that sounds very similiar to my scanner problem. This is described in
article 831114. This hotfix is something that they give out only if
you really need it and it is supposed to only fix that specific
problem.

I am running SP2 with all the latest updates.

Anyone have any ideas?

TIA, Rich

You might try your mobo.manu.web site for updated drivers, or your PC manu
if a branded PC eg Dell/HP etc

I have already checked the motherboard site (MSI) and MS for driver
updates with no luck. The system is a home-built, about 3 years old,
usign a MSI 865PE Neo-2 motherboard. The USB ports are Intel 82801EB
devices.

No I haven't contacted MS. Their hotfix appears to be specifically
for a keyboard and/or mouse. I figured I would see if anyone had a
better idea based o a prior experience.
