I have an HP 6200C, whihc sounds close to your scanner. When I first
attached it to my computer with XP, it would not work. To solve my problem
I had to do two differnt things. First, I got the latest PrecisionPro
scanning software form the HP web site and installed it. This download was
about 47 Meg, and took quite a while over my 56K modem. However, that was
only step one.
I also had to provide drivers for the scanner, and those were not available
as a download from HP. So, when ared for a source of drivers, I inserted
the CDROM that came with the scanner. Although those drivers obviously
pre-date XP, they worked.
There was one other wrinkle: One file was not found during install
(hpsjrreg.exe), and it asked me where to find it ! I search PC and saw it
was already in C:\windows\system32. So I typed that path and it all worked.
Good luck.

I recently ugraded my operating systems to XP, and have tried to get my
scanner to be recognized. I went to the HP site and down loaded the new
drivers, but I can't ger XP to recognize that there is a scanner to install.
I used the install wizard for scanners and camers, but all it sees is the
camera drivers, It does not see the scanner driver. When I try to manually
install the files it just sits there at the Wizard option - Which scanner or
camera do you want to install? It does not show any of the drivers.
Anybody got any suggestions on how to resolve the installation problem I am
having?
