HP Instant Share Locks Up after sending Photos

I have an hp psc 1315xi all in one printer/scanner. The software that came
with it includes HP Instant Share for emailing photos etc. After I use the
program to send pics my computer locks up when I try to close the Instant
Share Window. I don't get an error message, but I do get a small window that
says program not responding... Duh! That window will then not close nor will
any others I bring up. The only way I can escape this mess is to shut down
completely. Anyone have an Idea of how I might rectify this situation?

A freeze says it is a driver problem, and the scanner driver is certainly where you should look.
