HP Deskjet 840C and USB port

I have an HP Deskjet 840C printer at our home in the Caribbean. Our old
laptop died and I bought a new one using Windows XP and it only has USB
ports. Will a parallel cable with a USB adapter work with our new laptop or
is there another solution. Thanks

I wouldn't recommend relying on it working. With new printers that cost
little more than a set of ink cartradges, why speed money on an adaptor
that might not work? There's also the issues of locating ink cartrages
for older models AND new inexpensive printers having higher resoloution
capabilities. Unless you receive a report of someone having success with
that particular model you should remain sceptical.

If you were wanting a printer to work with an older computer that lacked
a USB port the use of an older printer might be more compelling.
