HP Color LaserJet 2600n

J

James Cadd

Has any one had any success getting a HP 2600n color laser printer to work
with Vista. HP simply says "Drivers cominng soon...." Very frustrating.

Thanks

I also tried to install Vista and despite the compatibility check beforehand
being OK, I found that neither of the HP Printers which I have would work. At
HP.com they say that they are not going to make a Vista driver for my
printers as they are over a couple of years old.

I'm having trouble as well with this printer. It is there but not, so to
speak.. I can print things from Word or other applications with no troubles,
but I go to print a photo via the Windows Vista Photo Gallery & the printer
isn't listed. I have tried everything to get this thing installed correctly
with no success.. Is anyone else here having issues with the photo printing?

Not that it is going to make you feel better, but I have a 2605, pretty
much the same printer you have, and it printed a photo from Vista Photo
Gallery just fine. I've got it hooked up as a network printer, running
through a router.

Harry I have the 2605 dtn also, are you able to duplex with the Vista
driver? I looked for a switch to turn it on but unsuccessful in
finding one.

Ahh, my friend...you have forgotten the first rule:

Make everything as difficult as possible.

My guess is that you downloaded the Postscript driver from those two new
drivers HP listed available for VISTA. Apparently that driver does not
support duplex.

Go back to the HP site and download the PCL 6 driver. With that one, if
you go to Properties, then Finishing, you'll see a check box for duplex
printing. It works.

Don't feel bad. The only reason I know this is because I had the same
problem!

Forgot...if you want to use duplex, you have to select the PCL printer.
The PS printer driver remains available. On my setup, the PCL driver is
called UP Universal Printing PCL 6 driver.

Actually I did not download any other drivers. I just tried the PCL 6
driver and it works. Thanks for the tip & advise. I can now duplex.
Yahooo!

Duplexing is great...you use half the paper per project, but twice as
much toner...keeps HP's shareholders happy.

How do you like your 2605? Mine is fine, though I am disappointed with
the difficulties involved in setting up the printer to properly handle
the few #10 envelopes we send out every day.

You took the words right out of my mouth! Great printer hope we get
this a Vista thing worked out. This is the first printer that I could
duplex with here at home.

I have the identical problem and this thread went somewhere else. Did you
ever find a resolution?
