Network problem with HP 2600n

I have a HP 2600n printer networked, and I just brought my first Vista
PC online. It can connect to other HP printers (non laserjet), but
whenever it tries to connect to the 2600n it gets an error 0x000006be
which appears to be some sort of RPC error. No other network problems
seem to exist, has anyone run across this?

Don;
I had the same issue with a HP laptop and a Vista install with the same
printer. My printer is connected to a SBS2003 machine, and the same machine
also controls my network.

What I did was delete the printer in Vista; reboot the Vista machine; then
simply browse the network for the printer and double click it. Drivers
installed to the Vista box from the server and all was well. going the other
route with the vista printer installer did not work.

I do have a problem at times - if the printer happens to be off line, or if
I am travelong with the laptop, when I return home, the default printer
changes to somthing else like print to PDF or somthing. Vista does not seem
to lock in a default printer very well in this version. I simply need to
remember to set the 2600n as defauilt when I return home.
