Hp and Update or Spy Sweeper

Hi:
My computer is HP and in the past, like anyone else, I installed 'SP 1'
purchased by mail from MS. However, I got a bad experience on which
the computer started to get VERY slow and sluggish. Later, I found that HP
does go along with any of 'Update' due to HP specification.
Since then, I never installed any of 'update' even though there is,
every day, 'update' ballon popping-up in the bottom corner and bugging me
to 'install' them.

Today, however in my concern over security, I purchased 'Spy Sweeper'
because
my machine getting 'slow' to open and my friend told me in needing some
form of security.

On the otherhand, ... although I had a bad experience on 'Update,' whether I
should
install 'security' part of the Update, or should I install the 'Spy Sweeper'
I purchased today?
I just can NOT make a decision what or which one I should be done.

I would be very grateful if you could offer me inputs and opinions on my
confusion.
Thanks,

What does this mean?

Odds are you just installed and update that your system didn't like! it
happens thats why you should install the one or two at a time and see how
your system works. If all is well then install another one.

I also use SpySweeper, install it and update it,then scan your system odds
are you will find hundreds, yes hundreds of crap that is the reason for your
slowdown.

Do both! I cannot stress this enough!

What anti-virus scanner are you using?

A link for free online virus and trojan scanners.

Hi MAP:
Thanks for your response. I really appreciate it.
that HP does go along with any of 'Update' due to HP specification.<<<<

--- I posted here, Newsgroups when my machine got sluggish and slow-down to
the point
where I needed to wait for awhile to load WindowsXP and Internet Explorer.
One of Expert-techs. here
said that HP pre-installed some stuff(I forgot the exact thing, ... )which
interacted and confused with
'Update.' For this reason, the machine got slow-down. He advised me NOT to
'update' any of
things, except 'Security,' and I removed all of SP 1 by using Add/Remove.
Afterwards, the machine got back to the normal state. But, this was about 2
years ago, then things
got improved, in my guess. However, because of my past bad experience, I
became skeptical to
install any of Update.

If I attempt all of those 'update,' there must be plenty of 'update' I need
to perform? Because, I
never installed any of Update since the day of SP 1, except 'security' part
of SP l.

I installed 'Norton System Works' that includes 'Anti-Virus,' and other
things which I has never
used. However, this morning when I stopped by a local "Staples" asking
one of techs who
told me that I do NOT need 'Spy Sweeper,' since I have 'System Works' which
covers everything,
including 'Spy Sweeper.'

To be honest, ... now I have NO clue what I need to do. As to 'Update,' I
concur your suggestion,
two or three at a time to see how things go. If there is a problem, then I
remove by using Add/Remove.

*Note* : One of my family loves eBay surfing, then there might be 'Spy' or
'Sneak-in' would happen?
Because of eBay which includes Pay Pal(money transaction), the computer gets
sluggish and slow-down?

Thanks for your response whenever you have time to do.

Hp computers are compatibler with updates. If you are still on SP1 your
computer is VERY vulnerable and Spy Sweeper will not help. Update your
computer.
