I am trying to move my scanner from an HP ISA scsi card to an adaptec 2906 scsi card under WIN XP. Everything shows installed with drivers. However, when I scan with windows scanner or HP DESCAN II, the scanner begins scanning and stops.

I have a HP6100C Svanner that was connected to an older PC with the HP

SCSI ISA card. I installed a ADAPTEC 2906 scsi card for the scanner

only. Scanner and card install without errors in XP on described

system. However, the DESKSCAN software hangs and so does the Windows

scanner program.

This seems to be a Scanner driver issue interfacing with the ADAPTEC

card.

When I display properties on the scanner, I get the location as Bus

Number 0, Target ID 1, LUN 0. I searched the web and found some

discussion about the driver use of BUS 0.

Do any of you have any ideas?

You'll probably have to add ASPI, which is a free download from ... www.adaptec.com

I'm intrigued though ... would it not have been easier to buy a new scanner ... some of this 'old stuff' can give you a right pain in the, you know where.

No because the new ones are slower and tehy will not scan an 8.5" x 14" or A4. Just hate to give it up.

I'll try the suggestion. What is strange is the scanner compeltes the scan with the light at the bottom of the scan area but does not retract and finish the image.
