When I plug the printer I my compter I have a message like USB periphical non
reconize" something like that. Before I installed the driver with de Hp's CD.
I contact HP for the problem and they sugest me to install manually the
priter drivers. I did that but my printer still not work. I think is a
software conflict.

I installed this printer on my laptop (with the same windows version ) and
it work great.

My computer is new an i have Windows XP home French edition.

Can you help me

The HP LaserJet 1018 seems to need a very high quality USB cable when
connected to a USB2 port.
Look for a short thick cable that's screened.

Using a USB1 port is apparently one way to make it work. However I have no
information on how well it works on a USB1 port.

Also you should download the latest drivers from the HP web site and use
those rather than the ones on the CD that came with the printer.
