Why Toshiba crippled their fine Toshiba Libretto with XP HOME Edition is a
mystery. I would like to upgrade this to XP Pro SP2 and not lose the cool
stuff they installed like fingerprint reader.

The obvious route (at least to me) is insert the CD and accept an option to
Upgrade. However doing this results in that dreaded MS message "The existing
version is newer" then exits.

Any suggestions for workarounds gratefully accepted and will name a
character in my next (and first) book after you. :)

It appears your version of Windows XP Pro
does not include SP2. To resolve this issue,
you can easily make a new Windows XP Pro
CD with SP2 slipstreamed in, then upgrade.

Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming
(integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze:

or

AutoStreamer 1.0.33 (preferred)
