How to unshare folders

B

B.W.

I am new to networking and have set up two computers directly via cable.
Seems to be working fine. When I want to unshare a Folder how do I do it.
I just want to keep the network share list down in size by removing the
folders after I have copied them to the 2nd computer.

I have tried to just reverse the procedure by unsharing with the particular
folder via Windows Explorer and initially that appears to work.
But............when I
boot up my PC again all the folders are back in My Network Places and I can
not longer access them from there.

When I look at these folders in Win Explorer they are not shared anymore.

Also some Folders showed shared here but are not in My Network places.

And in My Network places some folders appear closed and some open what does
this mean?

Any help would be appreciated, I'm confused.

Also can I set up wireless networking on the same machines as well as the
direct network, not wanting to share internet connection this way.

TIA

In My Network Places, right-click and delete undesired folders. They
don't go away automatically, even when they're no longer shared.

What do you see that says that a folder is closed or open?

Thanks for that information Iwill try it and see what happens. What I see
is a closed folder icon and one that looks like it is open but it looks like
it is on a stand.

Also can I set up wireless networking on the same machines as well as the
direct network, not wanting to share internet connection this way as I
already do so with the direct network, will it conflict with the direct
network set up?

TIA

All of the folders in My Network Places look the same on my computers,
and I don't know what you mean when you say that a folder is "closed"
or "open" or "on a stand".

I don't understand your question about wireless networking. I
recommend that you post a new message, with a descriptive title like
"Wired and Wireless Networks". Include a full description of how the
network is set up now and what you'd like to do.
