Folder lost in unsharing it - disaster

It appears I have just lost my complete Music folder including all files. I
have been trying to share the folder with my Network Receiver (Yamaha
RX-N600) and used the share folder option. This didn't work, so I tried to
"unshare this" on the network (small home network) and now the folder appears
to be gone.

I am running XP on a single PC and the network is not complicated at all. It
is a home pc, with no different levels of user access, so I am effectively
the "system administrator. I can connect my laptop to it and the Network
receiver is running as well.

The missing folder was under My Network Places in a seperate folder. Having
disabled the share I thought it would automatically revert to my Music in My
documents, but it hasn't, it just seems to have diappeared. Disaster - years
of accumulated music missing or worse - lost!

I did a search for "mp3" on the C drive (only hard drive) which returned
none of the music files. I had a look at the shared folders with my laptop
(on the same network) which shows no shared folders on the Main PC (which I
guess is what I originally wanted to achieve)

The Document folder that previously contained the shared music folder (I am
still hopeful I will be able to recover it) gives me the error "The folder
xxx is not accessible. Access Denied" Is there anyway to regain access to
this folder or more importantly find out where the music folder is. I didn't
delete it so I guess it is there somewhere, just not accessible at the
moment. Can anyone help me - or guide me in some direction to recover the
folder - Please!

Further Note - it appears that the folder has been moved to the All User
directory which gives me the same "Access denied" error message mentioned
previously. Any suggestion on how to remove this access limitation (I am the
system administrator)

Follow the steps in this Microsoft Knowledge Base article to get
access to the folder:

Thanks - I am familiar with this procedure.

The main problem is when I right click on the folder, I automatically get
the error message "The folder xxx is not accessible. Access Denied". I do not
get the opportunity to view the properties of the folder.

OK, I managed to resolve the issue with a 3rd party software product called
Security Explorer 4 which allowed me to reset the folder to whatever access I
required.

Still not sure how to resolve within XP.
