What graphics card or onboard graphics do you have? If it is not DirectX9
capable, it is not likely that you can get the Aero interface.

is your display adaptor aero glass compatible?

Aero is the general term of the new design.. that includes the non glass
one....

so you are asking about the glass and 3d effects.

Control Panel/Personaliztion/Customize colors. You will be on the Window
Color and Appearance page. Check Enable transparency. If that is not
available your video card or driver may not be WDDM compliant.

To see if your card and driver are WDDM compliant, open Control Panel/System
and Maintenance/Get Started with Windows. This opens the Welcome Center.
In the top pane look for your video card (fourth item). If the card and
driver are right the name of the card will be followed by "(Microsoft
Corporation - WDDM)"

The other possibility is that your system administrator may have disabled
Aero.

Intel (R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller
is this one support Aero?

Please check the Intel website. The adaptor must support DirectX 9 and
Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware and have a driver written to be WDDM compliant.

I hope you copied and pasted that because it's not worth re-writing time
after time. People will be asking this question even five years from now
each time when they decide to use an old video card.

Still, it has to be a better question than the fella who asked, "How do I
remove Vista? I can't find it in my Add/Remove Programs."
