how to turn off abutomatic indent when tabbing

one of the worst things about Word (2003 winXP) is that it assumes you are
indenting everything every time you press the tab key. is there any way to
turn this function off?

right now i'm logging videotapes. i enter the time code press tab to indent,
enter information, hit return and it copies the previous timecode like it's a
bullet. if i could edit the number it would be one thing, but i have to
delete it and begin again.

any insight would be very much appreciated.

This is nothing new to Word 2003... the feature has been included for years.

So has the ability to turn it OFF if it works against you...

Got to Tools>AutoCorrect Options>AutoFormat as You Type, remove the check(s)
for whatever suits you. Turn 'em back on whenever you wish or leave 'em off
forever. This as well as other techniqus are explained in Help.

While there you might poke around a little & see what else you can learn
about the program's features.

found in help. i have spent hours looking .

the best features are forums! quick answers to painful annoyances
