How to stop the repeating password prompt in Outlook 2003?

I get a prompt for my outlook password each time I open Outlook. And, this
prompt repeats about every 2 to 3 minutes as long as Outlook is open.
I always check the save password box.

Which version of Windows are you using?

I have a similar problem in that each time I open Outlook I am prompted for
my password (even though I check the save password box). However once entered
all works fine until I close Outlook, then have to do it all again the next
time Outlook is opened.

It’s a new Dell PC running Vista Home Premium with Office XP incorporating
Outlook 2002. I have 2 x POP3/SMTP mail accounts with btinternet.com and the
above applies to both accounts.

I have tried deleting my default account then recreating it, that did not
work.

I have tried the "Remove User Account Information" in the Registry key
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider" but
it won’t let me change the permissions, so no joy there.

Is there anything else? Help please

I think you'll find that's a problem with Outlook XP on Vista......Office XP
is not 100% compatible with Vista...and there's no cure AFAIK.

Not what I wanted to hear but thanks for the advice. Will look in to Office
upgrade.

NO. That's NOT the problem. It happends on Windows XP with Office 2007 as
well. I have yet to understand why MS does not fix this problem.

Different configurations have different solutions.
We're going from Outlook 2003 here to Outlook 2002 on Vista and not Outlook
2007 on Windows XP. You cannot compare that let alone that the same solution
applies.

Why Microsoft doesn't fix it on your system is because there is no general
issue. It's very likely to be a configuration issue on your computer. My
guess is that you have a virus scanner integrated with Outlook which is
messing up the send/receive process. Disable and/or uninstall this component
of your virus scanner and try again.

However, because of lack of detail about your configuration, it could very
well require a completely different solution as well.
