How to share desktop with remote pair programming partner?

S

Siegfried Heintze

I'm an agile programmer and want to share my desktop with another remote
programmer. I've done this with netmeeting but that is scary because one has
to open up so many ports.

I'm running XP 2003 server and thought I could use
remote desktop to share a session.

Can remote desktop share a session like netmeeting can? I like remote
desktop because it does not require a gazillion ports to be opened up. I
heard a rumor that remote desktop does encryption too -- is that true?

Assuming remote desktop is the right tool:

I'm trying to follow the instructions at
http://searchwinsystems.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid68_gci1033463,00.html.

The problem is that the "remote control" menu option is disabled! How do I
share a remote desktop session?

Thanks,
Siegfried

Beyond that Remote Assistance will also allow an Expert to both view and
control a Novice desktop... Go to "Help and Support" and search on the
string 'remote assistance'...

If you only want to share with one person then you can use Request
Assistance which uses Remote Desktop.
