Netmeeting Remote Desktop Sharing

Guest

Greetings,
I am using Netmeeting 3.01 to access my XP Home desktop from my XP Pro
laptop. I really like the Netmeeting Remote Desktop Sharing feature, but I
cannot display the remote desktop in true colors. After hours of fiddling, I
finally found out from a Microsoft website
(http://www.microsoft.com/windows/NetMeeting/Home/DeskShare/default.ASP) that
this is not possible. Microsoft states: "True Color sharing capabilities do
not work during Remote Desktop Sharing sessions." Does anyone know a
work-around or update for this deficiency? I checked out the Resource Kit,
but no luck. Thanks for any help that can be provided.

IMHO the work around is to use UltraVNC versus NetMeeting RDS. Its faster
for one thing particularly if you disable the rendering of the server
desktop wallpaper... Get the server, client, encryption plug-in and the XP
video driver from...

http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/

You need to open TCP Port 5900 if you have a firewall between the VNC server
PC and the client...

Thank you for your suggestion. You have been most helpful. I will check out
UltraVNC. Brad
