How to Set the SUBJECT in File Details: Want to Order Pictures for Thumbnail View

T

Tom

I have several hundred pictures I want to view via thumbnails The big task
is to get them into a order for viewing. My idea is to use the subject
field under the summary tab of the property for each file (jpg). This way I
could group them by A01--A99, B01-B333, etc. Then sort on the subject field
and they would be order by subject.

My question is this: Is there a batch command that would set this value?
Something like set dscn111.jpg [subject] = A01

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom D.

By monitoring changing the Subject line of a JPG file, I was able to
determine that the file is actually changed when you modify any of the
Summary fields.

I would imagine that each file is different format, since I was not able to
modify a .gif file.

i suggest to rename them all in a numeric order.
choose multiple files ,right-click on one of them, choose "rename" -for
example name it "pics"- then click enter and you will find that all the files
you selact are named " pics(1)" "pics(2)" "pics (3)" .....
