How to removing child domain from parent domain? please help thanks.

Dear colls,

I have win2k server in Head office installed as first
forrest and as domain controller. and I installed too
win2k server at remote sites of our office as a child
domain. Connection from HO in to remote 256 kbps. I think
the concept of domain that I've made wrong. SO I planned
to remove child domain from parent domain, but can not.
always there is an error when I try dcpromo domain
controller in child domain. Is there a way to removing
this child domain from parent domain?.
