Reparenting a lost child controller

Hello,

I had a 2000 AD Server, which had several child domains (of course, in other
machines running 2000 as well.) This (parent) borked and I decided to test
2003. How can I reparent the old child domains unto the new one?

BTW, hardware changed and the new 2003 install was from scratch (nothing was
restored from backups.)

The root domain cannot be re-created. You need to restore that machine from
backup then consider upgrading to 2003. If you loose the root of the forest
you basically loose everything. Of couse the child domains will work (for
the most part) but your best bet is to restore the root domain and then move
forward.
