How to remove a dead DC from AD

T

Tom Bombadill

Guys,

Our primary DC died some months ago and so we had to seize all the master
roles to another DC and rebuild the first one to a DC, under a different
computer name.

One thing I never managed to do was to remove the old DC name from the AD. I
even found an online tutorial to edit AD using ADSI or antother tool, I
forget which one it was exactly. But it did not have any effect.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,

There is only one approved way to clean up a domain controller that
has been removed. This way works every time.
