how to open several documents from same folder in same Word sessio

In prior version of Word (2003), you could open several documents from a
folder and switch from one to the other in the same session of Word. You
cannot do that in this 2007 version. You have to open another session for
each document. Every time, you do that, you have travel through the path of
folders to point to the folder where all documents are located. Word does not
keep the folder you are working in. It's an aweful waste of time.

Hi J.,

In Windows XP if I use File=>Open in Word and use one of the shortcuts on the left hand navbar or navigate to a folder through 'Look
in' to open a document or a group of documents and then use File open again Word goes back to the same folder as the last file
opened.

Are these files on your local hard drive or on a network server or ???
Word only opens one instance of Word, but how you see it displayed on your Windows taskbar can be a combination of having the 'group
icons' setting turned on in Windows for the taskbar and/or the setting in Word Options (Alt, T, O, A) scroll down to 'Display' and
change the
'Show all Windows in the Taskbar' option. With that last setting turned off you won't be able to use Alt+Tab to cycle through the
documents but you can use the View=>Window group to move and arrange them.
