How to move DOMAIN User profile to STANDALONE User profile

My laptop is currently a member of a domain.
I would like to REMOVE my laptop from the domain but KEEP my existing profile.
Is there a way to do this?

My config:
-XPSP2.
-I am local & domain admin and can dig out & power up my old DC if req'd.

I would copy your profile to Default User (Using the Copy to in the User
Profiles window). Then create a new workstation account.
Logon as the new user and see if it did work. If yes remove the computer
from the domain.
