Milly,
I have struggled with the same issue. Here's the resolution.
I normally use Word as my email editor. While this option is enabled, you
will not be able to save an Outlook email as a *.oft template. So, here's
what you do.
* Open Outlook.
* Select Tools/Options.
* Click on the "Mail Format" tab.
* Uncheck the "Use Microsoft Word to edit email messages" check box
* Open a new email message and add your text
* Select File/Save As
* Click on the pull-down options for "Save as type:" and select
"Outlook Template"
* Be careful WHERE you save this template, as you must later "browse"
to attach this template to whatever RULES you create.
I use this technique to set up my wife's laptop to auto-respond to incoming
emails when she is away from her office. It's the equivalent of the Office
Assistant in Microsoft Exchange.
I hope this helps you. Let me know, won't you?

an Outlook message and then save that as an Outlook Template.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
After furious head scratching, Delphina asked:
| I am trying to save a word document as an email template but I do not
| see the .oft file type to save it as. I tried saving it as a ..dot
| and a .doc but I will not come up in Outlook when I choose
| File/New/ChooseForm.
