How to locate existing TWEAKS?

Purchased a new machine from a boutique mfg....geared for digital audio
efficiency; & was going over specific mfg.'s documentation (mobo, power
supply, etc.) & checking out everything else the mfg. sent me. To my
dismay...when I looked at the OS disk..it read XP Pro-Version *2002*-
Copyright 2004; & I started thinking, "did these guys load me an *old*
operating system?" if they did, I intend to make them make it right...but
in the mean time, can anyone please tell me:

1) Where can I co on my computer to get the information on exactly 'which'
version my OS is?

2) Can you also tell me where exactly I can go on my computer to find out
which 'tweaks' they made for audio efficiency? (Services, Performance, etc.)

[If they did load me an older OS...& I then get an up-to-date one...I want
to be able to initiate their tweaks to it (& they're sort of closed-lipped
about all that)].

Right click on your My Computer icon on your Desktop and select
Properties. If it say s SP2 and you have not downloaded SP2 you have the
latest version installed. SP2 was released in 2004.

No idea regarding your second question.

If you have XP, that's version 2002. The newest disks say SP2 or Service
Pack 2 on them. These disks have been the same for a few years now.

Open any Explorer (not IE) window, and choose Help, About. The full
version number and service pack level will be displayed. However, that
won't tell you the updates installed, which should be displayed in
Add/Remove Programs.

The only difference is in service packs and updates, all of which are
available online.

Also, you can in many cases create an updated XP Install CD, using a process
called Slipstreaming.

If you google "slipstream XP" you'll find a lot of information on this
topic.

2) Can you also tell me where exactly I can go on my computer to find out

etc.)

This depends heavily on both the audio hardware involved and the rest of the
system hardware.

Applying updates, which you *will* be needing to do, shouldn't break the
audio.
