How to Go Back to SP1 ??? Bad Computer Slowdown

How can I return my computer back to SP1? On Oct 11 (end of SP1 support)
Windows Update installed SP2 onto my computer w/o my knowledge or permission
*despite* my having turned off Automatic Updates quite some time ago. It even
de-installed every one of the patches I had installed. I tried System Restore
to restore to Oct 9 and Windows tells me 'Unable to restore.

Now my 4+ year old computer has slowed down a lot. It was never made for
SP2. I can't even play DVDs on it anymore because the video hangs every few
seconds. Can someone please help?

Thanks,

Have you read http://support.microsoft.com/KB/875350 ? If this doesn't help,
Google found lots about uninstall Windows XP SP2.

If / when you get this fix'd you might think of really disabling
Automatic Updates for good, so this doesn't happen again.

Start | Run <type in> services.msc <enter>
Goto Automatic Updates, Stop, disable and apply.

Have you thought about checking for driver updates, from manu sites NOT
winupdate, and also updates for your Burning/DVD app?
A 4 yr old PC should'nt have that amount of trouble with sp2, unless perhaps
your infected with malaware
