I somehow didn't list my name on setup of windows xp, and
now on the "system properties" window, general screen,
where it says "registered to..." it is blank. How can I
get my name listed there???

[Start] [Run] [Regedit]
Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Cu
rrentVersionModify/Create the Value Data Type(s) and Value Name(s) as
detailed below.
Data Type: String Value // Value Name: RegisteredOrganization
Data Type: String Value // Value Name: RegisteredOwner
Setting for Value Data: [Modify the Values to Reflect Current Information]
Exit Registry and Reboot

Go to Start, Run, type REGEDIT, go to the menu item Edit,
then to Find and type registeredowner When it is
found, double-click on the RegisteredOwner key, type your
name and hit OK. Then close the Registry . . .

Good Luck !

I did that but it didn't change. I noticed that the first line in the edit section says default and it is blank.

It worked!! I love you! I have been obsessing about this
for the past 3 hours!! Thank you so much!

Hi Patti,

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

In the right pane, double click RegisteredOwner and change the Value data.

Or you can use this automated script:

Change Registered Owner and Organization (Line 7)

Change Computer Name (Line 109)

Change My Computer Name to User Name (Line 131)
