How to get 8x AGP on XP?

Hi there

I'm running XP Home edition SP1.
Nvidia 6600GT AGP video card with driver 77.77
Direct X 9
ASUS P4P800 motherboard (AGP 8x)

When I look at the Nvidia control panel it says that:

AGP rate for GPU and Chipset are both at 8x, but the AGP rate for OS is only
2x.

I've looked on my BIOS and there is no setting for AGP rate (ASUS P4p800
which definetely supports 8x AGP).

Is there something else I should do to ensure I get 8x AGP from my OS?

please advise... I've been trying to sort this out for ages!

many thanks

Satz

What utility or tool tells you this?

Check again. There is usually a setting in there somewhere. Yours may
not be in a standard location, so go through all the menus and
submenus.

THere is something else you should do, which is to install SP2, but
that won't fix your issue. You should do it anyway for a number of
security and stability reasons.

Here are a few things to try that may actually affect your problem.

Upgrade your BIOS, this could well be a BIOS bug. That's my best bet.

Update your video card drivers to the latest.

Hi,

Boot into BIOS and change the AGP setting to 8X, save and exit BIOS setup
and reboot.

Hope it helps.
