I'm running windows xp media and need to reformat the system partition
but don't know how.
Any advice would certainly be helpful and appreciated.
Thanks

You can not format a system partition. Window will never let you do that.
System Partition contain files, which are required to run Windows properly.
If you will format this partition with alternative ways then you will no
longer will able to boot your Windows.

You should explain that why you want to format that partition?

Let us know!

I want to format that partition because the system won't allow me to
add some drivers and programs that I want and I feel that starting
with a clean C drive they might just take.

Why do you people say that you can't format a system partition? Of
course you can. I've done it many times in the past but that was quite
a while ago and using a different OS. I'm pretty sure I used dos and
thats all I remember.

How about if I make a system disk, then will I be able to boot to
windows?

Do you realise that formatting destroys ALL data? ALL the files on that
partition will be destroyed.
That's exactly why I want to do it.

Do you know what you are doing?

No! That's why I'm asking the question.
Thanks for the link. It looks like it's what I need.

Michael Stevens has some very good pages about reinstaling XP. It would be a
good place to start. Whatever you do before you start know this, formating
destroys all data on the partition and you won't get it back. Yes there are
cavaets that I won't confuse you with.
